Goals for Class:

A.       This visual art class will encourage you to “open your eyes” and develop your awareness in order to see specifics & details in this world.

B.       This class will focus more thoroughly on developing your individual drawing, painting, designing & sculpting skills.

C.       This class will enhance your knowledge of the elements, people, vocabulary that create the visual arts that surround us in this world.

D.       This class will broaden your present knowledge of art from the past and in the present as well as establish an appreciation of how it applies to your life.

 

Assignments & Overview of the Semester:

In Class Projects – Personal Mandala; Glass Mosaic; Value Drawing Project; Independent Project; Digital Artist Project and more!

1 Artist Research Paper -  Powerpoint Project on an artist of choice

Gallery Visits – Student must visit a minimum of 2 art gallery/show with a parent by the end of the semester (preferably 1 per quarter) & fill out a critic sheet on the show which can be printed from the art webpage. (Counts as 1 test grade)

Tests – Color Theory; Greek Art; Art Gallery Visits; Clay Techniques

 

Expectations:

A.       Students will HONOR & RESPECT all artwork, materials & classmates!

B.       Students will make SAFETY at your highest priority while working in this class!

C.       Students will CLEAN-UP after themselves and return ALL materials where they belong.

D.       Students will come to class PREPARED daily.

E.       Students WILL NOT work on any other class subject during class hours.

 

Grading

25% - Tests, quizzes, outlines

25%  - Homework & daily preparation in class

50% - Process from Beginning to End & Final Product- Overall personal  effort; Application of principles/elements taught & learned in class.
