Understanding Grade Reports

I forgot! How are we graded in this class? Click here!

I assume that you already have your edline password and that you actually check your grades weekly. If you've lost your edline password, email Mr. Klausner right away and get it.

Where do I find my current grade?

All these examples assume that you're reading this during the first grading period of the year (Term 1). If it's the second quarter, look for "Term 2" information.

To get the bottom line, start at the subtotals. You may need to push the down arrow on your keyboard a few times until you see this:

Term #1 Subtotal: 95.5

If it's the first quarter (Term 1), this means you currently have a 96 average.

How did I earn this grade?

Next, look up a line or two to find the following information:

Term #1 Subtotal HW: 100    (How is homework graded?)
Term #1 Subtotal Quiz: 90    (How are quizzes graded?)
Term #1 Subtotal Test: 96    (How are tests graded?)

These are the averages that make up your quarter grade. (To see how much each category counts, click here.) These averages can be useful information. For instance, if your current quiz average is a 90, any quiz grade above 90% raises your quarter grade, and any quiz grade below 90 lowers it.

What can I learn from this?

These averages help you understand where you're performing well right now and where you aren't. To improve, maintain your strong points, while working on your weaknesses. Above all, make up your missing work immediately after you're absent. To get suggestions for improvement, click on one of your weaker areas below:
