Each Quarter’s AR grade will be based upon a goal that
the student and instructor agree upon. The goal will derive primarily from the
student’s zone of proximal development (ZPD) from his/her Fall Star test. Other
particular guidelines will be discussed following the completion of summer
reading testing. AR counts 15% of the total
quarter grade!!!!
Grading
- Tests are usually given after 2-3 stories poems,
novels, etc. so usually every 2-3 weeks. Special projects will count as a
test or quiz grade. Tests count 35% of the quarter grade.
- Quizzes are given in vocabulary every other week,
always on Fridays. Quiz grades count for 30% of the quarter grade.
- Homework counts 20% of the quarter grade; daily
grades are awarded 4 points, 2 points for effort and 2 points for accuracy.
If late, homework can be turned in the next for 2 points, but, if not made
up, it will enter as a 0.
- On graded homework, late assignments will be given
a 75 if handed in the second day, and after that a zero. If homework is
late two days in a week, parents will be notified.
- Starting next week there will be a homework
assignment every night. Check the middle school web page for assignments.
- Blackbaud on web has replaced Ed-Line. Will
attempt to have grades on it this Thursday. Please be patient.
