Adam "Pacman" Jones
2006 SEASON
PRO: Pacman Jones poses as a multi-purpose threat with a distinctive combination of speed, quickness and play-making ability in all facets of the game. The 2005 first-round pick, illustrated the versatility to handle punt return and kickoff duties and served as a weapon on offense as well. Jones and rookie cornerback Reynaldo Hill represented the only rookie duo each to start 10 games or more in the NFL at cornerback. Jones totaled 53 tackles, one quarterback pressure, two tackles for loss, 11 passes defensed and one special team tackle. The explosive return man was fourth in the league (third among rookies) with a 26.2-yard average on kickoff returns and ranked 10th in the NFL, first among all rookies with a 9.4-yard average on punt returns. His smaller stature belies his fierce competitiveness and confident attitude, which collectively earned him a reputation as a talkative leader on and off the field at West Virginia. In pre-draft workouts, he was timed in 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, bench pressed 330 pounds and recorded a 39-inch vertical leap. The Titans selected Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, making him the first defensive player chosen and the highest overall selection for the team since Steve McNair was drafted with the third overall pick in 1995.
