Kagome is a fifteen year old girl from the modern day, who falls down a well and discovers that she can travel between two different times, the Feudal Era and the present day. In the Feudal Era, she finds out that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, a priestess who had died fifty years early, and that she is the guardian of the Shikon no Tama, the Sacred Jewel. Unfortunately, while rescuing it from a thief, she broke the jewel, and is now working to recover all the shards and destroy Naraku with Inuyasha, Sango, Shippo, and Miroku.

Shippo is a young demon fox who travels with the group. He was the first teammate that joined, and was originally after the jewel shards so that he could avenge his father, who was killed by the Thunder Brothers. Unluckily for him, he often opens his mouth and says something that ticks Inuyasha off, so he often gets whacked on the head by the angry hanyou.

Miroku is a (supposed) monk, cursed with a kazaana in his right hand. This "wind tunnel" is a void in his hand, a curse placed upon him by Naraku, the villain of the series. It sucks up anything and everything, which makes for an awesome weapon... if it wouldn't eventually suck him up as well. Also, the only way to avoid an early death is to defeat Naraku, which is why he travels with Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo. He is the second person to join the group.

Sango is a demon hunter who is also out for revenge on Naraku. She wants to kill Naraku because he slaughtered her whole village and kidnapped her brother, who is being forced to work for Naraku and cannot remember anything. In the picture, the thing she is holding is her Hiraikotsu, or bone boomerang. It is Sango's favored weapon against demons.
