BGA Middle School Chorus 2006-2007 7/8 Graders: Remember your critique will be due by May 1! Plans for the year include: 7/8 Middle School Honors auditions – December/January (during school) Middle School Talent Show – January 25, 8:30-9:30 a.m. Harlin Student Center Elementary/Middle School Honors Choir – March 13 (by audition only) Spring Tour of schools during school day - TBA Grandparent’s Day – April 27 Spring Concert – May 3 – 7 p.m., Harlin Student Center, warm-up at 6 p.m. 8th grade graduation – May 24 Clothing needed: MS boys – need black pants, black shoes, white button down shirt, tie MS girls – may use my black skirt or buy your own that is similar in style, white shirt (neatly fitting, must be able to be tucked in, shirts only, no sweater sets) Rules of Performance: Notify your teachers well in advance of absences to do make-up work in advance. Attend ALL choir functions. Behave responsibly during all choir functions. Abide by school rules and regulations at all choir functions. ATTENDANCE AT ALL PERFORMANCES IS REQUIRED. UNEXCUSED ABSENCES RESULT IN THE LOWERING OF THE 9-WEEK GRADE BY ONE LETTER GRADE. AN AFTER-SCHOOL JOB OR SPORTING EVENT IS NOT CONSIDERED AN EXCUSED ABSENCE. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS NOW. IF I AM NOT NOTIFIED AHEAD OF TIME, YOU WILL ALSO RECEIVE 6 HOURS. A note or phone call from a parent is required in any case of absence from a performance. Performances are considered the "exam" for the 9 weeks and are absolute requirements. Grading… Daily grades are basically on a Pass/Fail basis. One strike against you for disruption or laziness will be a B for the day, two strikes and it is a zero for the day. Quizzes are possible and to be expected. Whether they are written, solo performance, or group performance will be determined as needed. They may be given on an "observation" basis, at random and un-announced. I always say—"Your life is your audition." How you behave and perform at all times is what matters—not just on tests. We will be adding some music theory and sight-reading to the curriculum, so there will be occasional written quizzes over that material. 7/8 Chorus members are required to attend one BGA arts event per semester.
