Assignments WRITTEN WORK HS Choirs: One critique will be due each quarter. See below for structure of paper.
MS Chorus: For 7/8 Chorus members only....Your critique is to be one and a half pages, typed and double-spaced. See below for structure of paper.
BGA Choir Critiques Format and Grading Rubrics Paragraph #1 Introduction (2 points) This paragraph should include the basic facts concerning the concert, such as date, time, and location. Paragraph #2 Technical evaluation (2 points) Write a paragraph in which you evaluate a technical aspect of the musical performance. Technical aspects might include pitch, blend, dynamics, vibrato, or technical skill on an instrument. Paragraph #3 Presentation (2 points) Write a paragraph on concert presentation. Areas discussed in this paragraph could include concert dress, discipline, and enthusiasm. Paragraph #4 Musical selections (2 points) Write a paragraph centering on the musical selections. Aspects of this subject could include variety, appropriateness for the performing groups and quality of the literature. Paragraph #5 Summary (2 point) Write a paragraph that summarizes the report and brings it to a logical and satisfying conclusion. Conventions (all reports must be typed, double-spaced, 12 point font, two full pages of text the cover page is only 2/3 of a page!!)

THEORY HS Choirs can expect regular quizzes and/or tests on music theory. An exam will be given at the end of each semester. 7/8 Grade Chorus can expect a quiz or worksheet most every week.

This will be done as a group generally. It
is possible that students will be asked to perform melodies on their own
at the discretion of the teacher. |
